BAPS LEADS WAY WITH RACE INTO READING
BAPS MOTOR SPEEDWAY AND NEWBERRY ELEMENTARY BUILD LASTING MOMENTUM AROUND THE ‘RACE INTO READING’ FUNDRAISER
York Haven, PA: BAPS Motor Speedway and Newberry Elementary collaborated for the 3rd Annual “Race into Reading” event at Newberry Elementary School last Thursday, April 10 2025. The popular scholastic book fair fundraiser aims to promote reading among elementary students by merging the thrilling world of racecars with the joy of storytelling. BAPS Motor Speedway’s Kolten Gouse expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “I am thrilled to collaborate with Newberry Elementary School for the Race into Reading event. The kids get to sit in the race cars and imagine being a race car driver themselves one day. That imagination can also grow with reading books and learning about cool stories.”
Kolten Gouse begins securing sponsors to donate towards the learning cause months in advance, giving each student an interactive and memorable experience. “There might be kids with a lot of things going on in their personal life, or maybe they aren’t able to participate in things like going to movies or sporting events", said Gouse…”and I think something like this event can go a long way to get them excited about their own future.”
Race teams participating outside of the Newberry Elementary School gymnasium included Samual Miller (410 Sprint), Chason Hauck (270 Micro Sprint), Lucas Adams (Late Model), and Brian Rehbein (Extreme Stock).
Four hundred motorsports t-shirts were produced by Bob Hilbert Sportswear and given to the kids for free to wear at the Race into Reading event. T-Shirt sponsors included Save Rite Auto Sales and Service, Adams and Sons HVAC, ACR Auto Core Recycling, Dressler’s Electric Services, B&B Metal Finishing, Wintermyer Auto Salvage and Repair, Rehbein’s Service Center, Shoppes Of Newberrytown, Reeser’s Soft Ice Cream, Chucks Auto Parts Solutions and Church & Dwight.
Thanks to Herr’s Chips, Baker Door Company, Rock It Pizza, and BAPS Motor Speedway all families were treated to complimentary pizza, chips and drinks. “We have amazing business partners and relationships that support the Speedway,” said Gouse. “As soon as I tell a business about our mission to connect kids with Racing’ and ‘Reading’ they go above and beyond to help.”
BAPS Motor Speedway’s Race into Reading Program continues at the track with rewards for all elementary school age kids that read books all season long.
New to the event this year was Church & Dwight who stepped up big time and donated toothbrushes and toothpaste to all of the kids at the elementary school with additional supplies to be given out during the calendar year.
