YORK HAVEN, Pa.: Owner Scott Gobrecht and general manager Kolten Gouse continue to try and build events at BAPS Motor Speedway.
It seems they have one in works with the Justin Snyder Salute to the Troops, which is presented this year by Dover International Speedway.
For the second year in a row, Tony Stewart’s Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions will headline the event, which takes place next Sunday, August 26. Grandstands open at 4:30 p.m., with opening ceremonies taking place at 6:50 p.m. Heat races begin at 7 p.m.
This event began in 2016 as a way to honor the life of Justin Snyder, a former serviceman. Danny Dietrich won the inaugural race. The All Stars joined the program a year ago, with Lance Dewease earning the win.
“Each year, we have worked hard to make the Justin Snyder Salute to the Troops a little bigger,” Gouse said. “Bringing the All Stars back and adding Dover as a presenting sponsor makes it even more special.
“We want to make this race one of the premier events at the speedway. With the help of the Snyder family, the sponsors, and the drivers, we continue to grow this event and will do so for years to come.”
Dover International Speedway coming aboard adds more prestige and also helps bring together dirt-track racing and NASCAR in the same arena. Along with cross promotion, the speedway will present a five-foot Miles the Monster Trophy to the winner.
“We are excited to have Dover International Speedway come on board as a sponsor to this event,” Gouse said. “They have been working hard to help promote this event to a lot of different people.
“The management team at Dover has helped promote this event to a lot of different people, and for Dover to present a unique trophy similar to the one given out to the winner of their NASCAR events, it’s pretty amazing.”
The driver who sets quick time will receive $500 from Emory Transmission. The Beer Hill Gang will present $500 to hard charger.
The Justin Snyder Salute to the Troops presented by Dover International Speedway, which will pay out $5,000 to the winner, will also have a number of fan giveaways.
Homak Industries will be raffling off three quality custom tool boxes. The first is a large roll-away. They will also present two upright tool boxes. Tickets will be sold for $1 apiece or 10 for $5.
The McSherrystown Moose Lodge will sponsor an autograph session from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. Kyle Moody, Kyle Reinhardt, and Trey Starks are expected to participate. Two lucky fans who take part in the autograph session will receive $250 each. The drawing will be at intermission.
Proceeds from the 50-50 and raffle tickets will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Justin Snyder.
“To be able to honor the memory of Justin Snyder and the Snyder family is pretty special to our team at BAPS Motor Speedway,” Gouse said. “If not for the Snyder family, our sponsors, and the support of the drivers, none of this would be possible. We at BAPS Motor Speedway appreciate everyone associated with this event.”
