Lattomus, Stough, Frye and Dellinger Dominate EK Services Hometown Heroes Night at BAPS Motor Speedway

YORK HAVEN, Pa: It looked like Preston Lattomus was going to be forced to settle for another top-five finish. No winner’s celebration and no first-place check.
Things were looking good early. Lattomus beat Derek Locke off the start and led the first circuit during Saturday’s 358 Sprint Car main event at BAPS Motor Speedway. The problem ... it was short-lived.
Locke, one of the top drivers in the division, wrestled the lead back on the second circuit. And for a while, it looked like he was going to add to his resumé.
But Lattomus didn’t go away. He hounded Locke for the top spot on the 10th circuit and went on to score the victory in the 25-Lap affair on EK Services Hometown Heroes Night at the York Haven, Pa., speedway.
Locke, who started on the outside pole, made his move past Lattomus on the second circuit. A caution on the fourth circuit tightened the field up, and the young driver stayed close to the leader for the next five laps.
Lattomus made his move on Lap 10 and never looked back. He survived a caution on the 18th circuit to claim the victory. Dylan Norris stormed from ninth to finish second, with Locke, Logan Rumsey, and Ayden Hare completing the top five.
Zach Newlin, Rumsey, and Tylar Rutherford were heat-race winners for the 30-car field. Justin Foster won the consolation.
After watching Kenny Edkin heat up and win a couple of Meyer’s RV Super Sportsman main events, Scott Dellinger returned the favor in the 25-Lap main event.
Dellinger started 13th in the field and sliced through the field, taking the lead on Lap 6 from Daniel John. Edkin followed Dellinger’s lead and wasn’t too far behind as the laps clicked by.
A late caution on Lap 20 gave Edkin, who started 12th, one more shot. Dellinger was up to the challenge and claimed the win at the stripe. Edkin, Brock Hammaker, Matt Ondek, and John completed the top five.
In the Creekside Auto Sales 358 Sprint Car main event, Coleby Frye wasted little time getting to the front to post another triumph in the main event.
Frye started 12th on the grid and took the lead from Matt Murphy on Lap 6. Three more cautions followed, but Frye was too good over the race distance and cruised to the win.
Lane Snook started ninth and finished second, with Travis Mease, Hunter Fulton, and Scott Palmer completing the top five. Murphy finished 20th after bringing out the caution on Lap 10.
Bob Stough started on the pole and wired the field in the Gene Latta Ford Central PA Legends main event. There was one caution in the event, and it didn’t slow down the progress of the eventual winner.
Logan Carbaugh crossed the line second, with Devin Friese completing the podium. Mike Racine charged from 15th to fourth, with Bill Dietz completing the top five.
