LUCAS OIL LATE MODEL PREVIEW!
YORK HAVEN, Pa.: The Lucas Oil Late Model Series dominated the headlines during last week’s Performance Racing Industry show in Indianapolis, Ind.
It was announced that FloRacing purchased the series, and a playoff format will no longer be used to determine the champion. It’s season-long points, which means BAPS Motor Speedway could play a role in crowning the best in series competition.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Series will invade the York Haven, Pa., facility for the first time ever on Saturday, April 25th. The Superior Homes York County Nationals presented by Panchos will pay a hefty $25,000 top prize to the winner of the Super Late Model main event. The Limited Late Models and Extreme Stocks are also on the program.
“We are excited to have the Lucas Oil Late Model Series at BAPS,” General Manager Kolten Gouse said. “The roster features some of the best drivers in the division, guys who have won over a million dollars in a single season.
“I think this shows how far BAPS Motor Speedway has come in the last five or six years. This is one of the premier series in all of dirt-track racing, and it’s an honor to have them interested in a race here, much less getting them on the schedule.”
Fans can expect drivers such as 2025 series champion Devon Moran to be in attendance, as well as Ricky Thornton Jr., who posted 14 wins with the series last season. Jonathan Davenport, Hudson O’Neal, and Brandon Shepperd should also be in attendance.
There will also be a strong local contingent trying to knock off the traveling stars. They include Rick Eckert, Gregg Satterlee, Gene Knaub, Gary Stuhler, and Trevor Feathers to name a few.
Tickets are on sale for this event at www.bapsmotorspeedway.com. It’s $45 for adult general admission, with seniors priced at $35. Students are $20 with kids under 12 free. There are infield passes available and family four-packs.
“With the traveling teams and locals, we are expecting a really good car count,” Gouse said. “We want to thank Rick Schwallie for bringing the series to the speedway, and we look forward to putting on the best show possible for drivers and fans.”
