Dellinger Claims Season Opener
Dellinger Claims Season Opener.
YORK HAVEN, Pa.: Scott Dellinger wasn’t about to let victory slip away on Saturday night during the Season Opener at BAPS Motor Speedway.
But racing is a funny game. No matter how good you are, there is always someone scratching and clawing to unseat you at the top of the mountain.
Kenny Edkin has done that over the last few seasons. So, when Dellinger rolls through the gate for a Super Sportsman main event at BAPS Motor Speedway, he knows overcoming Edkin will be his biggest challenge.
These two drivers have had their share of battles. Last week was another chapter in the friendly rivalry, only this time, Dellinger came out on top in the 25-Lap GA Smith Towing Super Sportsman main event during the Tyson Fence Bob Conley Season Opener at the speedway.
“It was a good race, and he raced me clean,” Dellinger said. “We’ve raced each other for a lot of years, so you know what to expect.
“We made some changes after the heat race and the car was really good.” Said Scott Dellinger
John Edkin started on the pole and grabbed the early lead. Dellinger, who started second, did not waste any time taking the lead on lap number 2 and led every lap up until a late caution on lap 24 when Troy Rhome spun in turns three & four.
The Restart which featured single file restart pitted the top 2 drivers in the division with a one lap shootout. Once the green flag flew Scott Dellinger & Kenny Edkin charged into turns one and two with Edking getting a monstrous run down the backstretch and throwing a last lap, last turn slide job on Scott Dellinger and a race back to the line which saw Scott Dellinger grabbing the season opening win.
Jay Fannasy finished third with John Edkin crossing the line in fourth. Matt Ondek held on to complete the top five in the main event.
In the Adams & Son HVAC Late Model main event, Lane Snook led the final 10 laps to claim the win. He finished a half of a lap in front of Chad Smith with Jake Moser, Sammy Rial and Gene Knaub rounding out the top 5.
Colton Friese wired the field in the East Coast Legends Feature. He led the last 8 circuits and took the win over Jeremy Ott, Logan Carbaugh, Scott Houdeshell and Seth Kirchner.
