Photo of the day wins money.
YORK HAVEN, Pa.: Kolten Gouse and the management team at BAPS Motor Speedway continues to honor different groups of people who help promote Sprint Car racing on a daily basis.
In September, it was media members and photographers. During the October Britton Finkenbinder Memorial, it was time for the engine builders in the sport to take center stage and get recognized.
The team at BAPS Motor Speedway is continuing that trend in the offseason with the SprintCarUnlimited.com Photo contest to showcase the work of photographers who have come to the speedway this season. There will also be prizes at the end of the contest for the best photos of the month.
“We feel that photographers play a key role in the promotion of races,” said Gouse, who is the general manager at BAPS Motor Speedway. “This is a good opportunity to showcase their work and give them the recognition they deserve.
“We didn’t want to just put up a photo every day. The goal was to showcase work from photographers who have been to BAPS Motor Speedway, as well as give them some kind of cash prize. A lot of photographers do this on their own dime, and we wanted to give them something for their efforts.”
A photo will be selected each day and posted on the BAPS Motor Speedway Facebook page. The photos must be from the York Haven, Pa., facility and can be from any event at the speedway in 2025. Photos can be sent to kgouse@bapsmotorspeedway.com.
The contest starts on November 17th and runs through December 23rd. . The top five photos that had the most fan likes during that time period will be placed in the top five. On Christmas Eve, the top five will be posted on Facebook, and the winner will be selected.
The best photo will win $150, with second place receiving $50. Third will receive a $25 gift certificate to the speedway.
“I feel photographers get overlooked and are taken for granted sometimes, and this is a way to bring them to the forefront,” Gouse said. “They spend a lot of money on equipment and deserve recognition for what they do to tell the story in different publications in the sport.
“Thanks to SprintCarUnlimited.com and our team at BAPS Motor Speedway, we have put together a good contest for the first year. If it works well, I can see us doing more along these lines in the future.”
