DRIVERS "RAVE" ABOUT $5 SPRINT CAR RACE
YORK HAVEN, Pa.: One of the most anticipated shows of the upcoming BAPS Motor Speedway season is the cheapest for fans, and not just the ones in the central Pennsylvania region.
The $5 Keystone Nationals is gaining plenty of attention and is shaping up to be a historic race in the northeast with fans throughout the northeast purchasing online tickets. Call it a throwback to when legendary promoter Jack Gunn was running racetracks in the region.
The premise for this event is unique nowadays, as fans can purchase a grandstand ticket to the June 7th event, which will feature the popular 410 Sprints and Superior Homes Extreme Stocks, for just $5. It’s a promotion that hasn’t occurred in central Pennsylvania in nearly 50 years.
This is an event that keeps growing. The speedway is working on several activities for fans to enjoy, including an autograph session, entertainment from the band, “That’s What She Said,” fireworks, and more.
Here is what drivers are saying about the $5 Keystone Nationals:
“It’s huge. It’s the future of our sport. I see a trend of the older diehard fans starting to fizzle out, so the more newer fans we can bring into our sport, it benefits all aspects. Who wants to race in front of empty grandstands,” — Sprint Car driver Tyler Ross.
“New fans are needed for the survival of the sport we all love. It’s awesome to see BAPS Motor Speedway promoting the sport, and more importantly, trying different ideas,” — Sprint Car driver Chad Trout.
“New fans are critical to our sport. In order for there to be events and for me to have the ability to race, there must be fans there to support the events, both now and in the future. I know many friends who have gone to a race for the first time and are now hooked on the sport. The problem is getting folks physically to the track. Getting those new fans to the track can make an incredible difference for our sport, as these adults and children could end up being long-time fans, the next driving start, a track or team owner, a local promoter, etc. We’re in a time where society’s attention is very difficult to catch, so we must get creative as a sport in order to grab that attention.” — Sprint Car driver Chase Dietz.
“The Young generation is our future to keep the sport going, making it family friendly and cost efficient is the key”. I'm really excited to see how this turns out. -Sprint Car Driver Doug Hammaker
“I think it's cool to see promoters doing $5 sprint car race and thinking outside of the box, BAPS Should be a packed house, and I am excited that the Extreme Stock Division is part of the show” -Extreme Stock Driver Brian Walls.
