$5 Keystone Nationals have media talking.
The $5 Keystone Nationals is shaping up to be a historic race in the Northeast, with fans from all over beginning to pile on with online ticket sales. The Keystone Nationals, which will take place on Sunday, June 7 will feature a unique grandstand offering of $5, something that has not happened in central Pennsylvania in nearly 50 years!
Jack Gunn who was behind the helm of several racetracks is the last known promoter to put on a 410-sprint race with a $5 admission ticket. This exciting event will feature a two-division show with the ever-popular Superior Homes Extreme Stocks participating in a 20 lap feature race alongside the Sprint Cars.
When fans arrive at the speedway there will be a “Fan Zone” area where the band "That's what she said” will be playing from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Presented by Dean’s Auto Plaza, this area will also have Reece Raudabaugh’s 305 sprint car on display for kids to climb in and take pictures.
Here is what media members are saying about this event!
“The creativity and energy level at BAPS Motor Speedway is remarkable. The $5 ticket price for a sprint car race is a phenomenal concept. We at Speedway Illustrated are most certain that the initiative will introduce open-wheel racing to a whole new category of fans, some of whom may end up as participants, too”. Karl Fredrickson (Speedway Illustrated)
“I think this is a great thing for the fans of racing in general in our area. Another example of forward thinking by the promotional team at BAPS Motor Speedway that will benefit everyone in the area and help bring new people into the sport”. “These are the events that tracks need to build at their venues to bring in new fans to survive” - Alan Sagi (Late Model Driver & Turn 5 Media)
"A $5 ticket to a 410 Sprint Car is unheard of and rolls back pricing several decades. It is not only a great thing for existing fans to enjoy their favorite sport at their home track, it provides a great opportunity for new fans to have an excellent night of entertainment without feeling like they are wasting their hard earned money. Hopefully, the sport captures their attention and assists in creating the new fans that all of us in the promotional world are seeking”.
Joe Skotnicki (RPM Promoters Workshop)
“I think it's a great idea to get new fans to come to a race and experience something at a very family affordable admission” I hope race fans take the opportunity to grab a friend, family member or neighbor that has never been to a race track before an take them to this race to experience the excitement" Lenny Sammons (Area Auto Racing News)
“There has been a lot of pushback from fans lately about the cost of tickets to get into events. Kolten Gouse and the team at BAPS Motor Speedway are listening and have come up with one of the best promotions in central Pennsylvania in quite some time. Not only does it give back to fans, it's also an opportunity to maybe expose new fans to Sprint Car racing at an affordable price. The proof is in the fact that other tracks outside the area have been following this promotion since the announcement." Jeremy Elliott (Sprintcarunlimited.com )
“This is such an unheard of promotion in today’s day and age and something that I thought I would never see in the sprint car world.” “This promotion is something that our sport desperately needs to attract new and old fans, and BAPS continues to lead the way by actively promoting the track during the race season and off season.” “This $5 race will be something historic to see and more importantly a must see event for all new and old fans”
-Allan Holland (Hoseheads.com )
“Everything is expensive these days, from groceries to movie tickets. We all spend a lot of time talking about ‘the good old days’ in racing, and an event like this only helps to bring those feelings back – packed grandstands, inexpensive family fun, the sense of community the racing world has long prided itself on. If you have any hope of returning to the sport you love, I certainly hope you’d pack up the car for this and introduce new fans – or re-introduce former ones – to Saturday & Sunday night dirt track racing.” - Travis Barrett- Lancaster Farming
