Fifth Group of Drivers Confirmed for Silver Springs Night!
YORK HAVEN, Pa.: Despite closing its doors after the 2005 racing season, Silver Spring Speedway needs no introduction when it comes to racetrack history in the central Pennsylvania region.
The Super Sportsman division was premier, drawing over 50 cars most nights. Fans showed up in droves to see some of the most competitive racing in the late model and street stock divisions at an affordable cost for admission and concessions.
The fifth group of drivers confirmed to participate in the Silver Spring Speedway throwback autograph session is from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This group includes Super Sportsman drivers Dave Calaman, Todd Rittenhouse, Scott Hess, Late Model Driver Rocky Magaro and Street Stock Drivers Tom Snavely and Dan Rhome all joining the List. Long time car owners Mike & Tom Brown will also be on hand. The speedway hopes to have nearly 150 people who participated in driving and/or owning a race car at Silver Spring Speedway in attendance.
The management team will host Magaro’s Towing Silver Spring Throwback Night on Saturday, June 20th. It will feature a $5 general admission price to anyone who wears a Silver Spring Speedway Track T-Shirt.
“Silver Spring Speedway was one of the storied racetracks on the East Coast,” Gouse said. “The history and names of drivers who competed there … It's a mix of Hall of Famers and guys who are known throughout the region.
“It was also one of the more popular racetracks around. Fans flocked there because it was so affordable. As for the competition, it was second to none. It was difficult just making a feature on any given night, and if you won, you accomplished something.”
The divisions on the card that night will be the Super Sportsman, 358 Late Models, and Extreme Stocks. There is also a Super Sportsman non-winner’s race.
There are plenty of activities scheduled for the June event. The Eastern Museum of Motor Racing will be on site and get track time. There will be a camera and autograph night with old-time drivers, and it will also offer other cheaper items on the concession stand menu.
The Speedway will be announcing additional Sponsorship and additional activities that are being finalized. If you would like to participate in this event, please contact the speedway office.
